2012 Ford F-350 SuperCab XLT 4×4

 I purchased this truck in February of 2012 as a factory order.  I really liked the King Ranch model used in most of Ford’s advertisements and knew that’s the look I wanted in the end even though I couldn’t afford to spend that much on a new truck.  So I ordered an XLT in Golden Bronze Clearcoat Metallic as the starting point. That also allowed me to order the truck exactly as I wanted while keeping the price down.

 

After some customization, I have the look I want.

In the photo above we’ve added the following accessories:

  • the set of 20″ Moto Metal 959 wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler All-Terrain tires that were on my previous F-350,
  • Bores Guides with LED tips – these make it easy for shorter drivers (my wife is under 5′ tall) to see where the corners are;
  • the Lund OEM-style fender flares painted to match the lower accent color – the flares came from Rock ‘n Road Outfitters in Auburn, MA and the paint was done by DC Auto Restorations in Uxbridge, MA
  • the front and rear Weathertech molded mud guards were a perfect fit with the flares;
  • The Putco polished stainless locker bed rails
  • Weathertech in-channel rainguards
  • Husky XAct Contour floor liners for both rows of seating
  • BedRug bedliner
  • Undercover UltraFlex tonneau cover
  • Putco Switchblade tailgate light bar
  • AMP Research power steps replaced the factory step bars

2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

After finding myself constantly walking past the Mercedes to drive the 2004 Wrangler, I decided to sell the Wrangler and trade in the Mercedes on a new-to-me 2014 Wrangler Rubicon. It’s a lot of fun to drive, serves as a convertible in the summer and a go-anywhere vehicle the rest of the year, and also plows my driveway in the winter.

It’s been outfitted with a Kenwood Bluetooth double-din head unit that allows hands-free phone and takes the video feed from the flush-mounted backup camera in my rear bumper. It also has a hybrid, zipperless soft top with sliding screened windows and a flip-back freedom panel.

Full Tilt is a demonstration project for us. It started out as a completely stock Wrangler and morphed into what you see here. The front stock axles were replaced by a Dana 44 from a 1986 Wagoneer and re-geared to 5.13:1. The rear axle is a Ford Explorer 8.8, also re-geared to 5.13.

The Jeep is lifted using a multi-link Clayton Off-Road 4.5″ suspension lift augmented with an Energy Suspension 1″ body lift.  It rides on 37″ tires that bring the total lift to 10″.  The front stock seats have been replaced with Mastercraft racing seats, although we’re still using the stock seat belts. The roll cage is a strengthened Bestop cage that works with the stock soft and hard tops.

Extra lighting, aftermarket bumpers, a winch, and a high-lift jack round out the package.  Along the way, this Jeep also got a brand-new frame, so it’s as solid as they come.
